Recipe Blog

Due to a high volume of requests for the easy and delicious recipes that I have "perfected" I have created a blog where I can add my recipes for all of you to see and try!

I am in the process of adding all of my current favorites, and I usually do a few new recipes each week. I will do my best to keep it updated. Feel free to leave comments about the recipes, especially if you have ideas of how to make them tastier!

One fantastic year- CHECK!

Well we have officially been married a year, plus 2 days now. It was certainly one of the craziest years of both of our lives (thank you graduate degrees!) but very amazing. Everyone told us that after the first few months it starts getting harder- but we both agree that it isn't at all. We are lucky that we agree on most things and when we don't agree neither of us think it is a big deal and we work it out very well. We know it will get harder with kids, etc. but we think it is a good sign that we get along so well!

Our anniversary fell on a Sunday, which meant that our day looked like this:

1. Sleep in til 9
2. Get home taught at 10
3. Home teaching (Thomas) until noon
4. Lunch
5. Church all stinkin day until 5:30
6. Dinner
7. Asleep

Not super exciting, but church was really good- it was all about family, etc. and a few talks and hymns really touched me. This week we are going to go out (it's Thanksgiving and all the students are gone, so it is actually possible to go out and get into a movie without it being sold out, and eat out without a 2 hour wait on a week night!). So that will be fun :) We never go out- we are so sick of all the students everywhere all the time! Even the grocery store gives me a migraine and takes over an hour for a few items because there is standing room only, no matter what time of day/night you go! Crazy Provo. 1 1/2 more years. We can do it!

Thomas is doing great in school- he had a mock trial last night (Chris and Kerry were his witnesses) and he said it went really well! He was defending, and the jury decided the man was not guilty! So Thomas did a great job explaining the evidence and how it did not condemn his client. The lady who was in charge and gives the grade said she would've thought that Thomas and his partner were practicing attorneys if she hadn't known it was a mock trial for law students. WAY TO GO, BABE! He is amazing :)

Biggest Loser

Well, as most of you know, I am addicted to Zumba and go about 6 times a week. It is the best part of my day. Even better, I am finally getting in shape (aka becoming the biggest loser)! I am more than half way to my goal (which I want to reach in April) and I started the last week of August. So I'm doing pretty well! Here is my cute lil ticker:

As a reward, I just bought myself a better pair of shoes to wear for Zumba- some brand new Nike Shox Zipsisters (from the new sister line)! I found a great deal on them and am excited to use them. Anyways, enough about Zumba!

I finished my first internship and LOVED it! Now I am getting paid (YAY) to do speech therapy at the BYU preschool/kindergarten 3 days a week with Jen, my Zumba buddy and second half! I also work at a charter school one day a week, and do home visits for homeschool kids one day a week. Speech therapy is SO FUN, especially when you get paid for doing it. I love it and am enjoying learning a ton about how to be better!

I got my wisdom teeth out at Jean Brown Research, and got paid $275 to do it! I needed to have them removed- they were in and straight but the dentist said they are too hard to keep clean so to get them removed before they cause problems. So I did! I had to stay at the place over night, but they paid for my surgery and medicine, and took care of me for 24 hours post surgery. I had a nice nurse named Oscar that came in every once in awhile to change my gauze, and bring me food (if I wanted some, I could order off the menu)! Then he would come in and take the tray away when I was done eating. It was a private room and I just watched movies, read, did crossword puzzles all day! It was great :) I haven't had any complications and seem to be healed almost all the way. 2 days after surgery I was back to work full time, and 5 days after surgery I was back at Zumba. Can't live without it- or how great it makes me feel :)

Girls' Night!

During priesthood session, Jill, Dani and I left our men behind and had a girls night. Mmm... Red Robin :) Here are some pictures for anyone who may be interested, and for those of you who are not! haha

Jill ate the Wise Guys burger. It definitely has fried mozzarella cheese sticks on it.

I sat down next to Jill, so it was no surprise when whipped cream from her shake ended up on my face.

Dani was just an innocent bystander.

Isn't this neon green purse amazing? It might not hold much, but it can stop traffic!

Just trying on hats for fun!

This dress definitely zips up the back. It was pretty hideous.

Ka-RAZY shoes! Red patent leather stilettos are not really my thing.. maybe if I was hittin' up the dance club, which I do so often.. haha

Also, here is a random picture with some of my fellow intern/classmates/cohort! Jen, Anita, Me, Maria, Patti, and Emma (aka my entire life.. love you girls!).

Kanye = Best Therapy Ever

So today I was leaving the Skilled Nursing Facility where I've been doing speech therapy for my internship, and I hear some Kanye West in the background as I pass the therapy gym (rap, for those of you who are unfamiliar!). So, seeing as I work with the geriatric population in this facility, Kanye is not something I hear very often... so I turned around to go check it out. I see the PT (physical therapist) and OT (occupational therapist) working with pts (patients). One pt is sitting in his wheelchair dancing with his mobile arm, doing like an ocean wave type thing and saying "wow!". He apparently really likes Kanye. Another pt who speaks barely any English is just watching- and then he starts cracking up (which is rare for him). He starts to say "wow" and tried to dance with his arm too- with not as much luck because he has partial paralysis. I do have to say that it was one of the best dance parties I have ever been to- I haven't had so much fun in a long, long time! Who knew that Kayne's "Stronger" was so therapeutic??

ZUMBA is my fav :)

Since getting back to Provo for the school year, I have lost 8 pounds thanks to Zumba! And I feel better than ever. Here is a little video clip of my zumba instructors! Allison (who is teaching) and Cass (who is in the purple tank top) are my favorites :) Between the two of them, I go to class 6 days a week. Sadly, I was not in the class that they recorded in this video. But as always, I was there in spirit!

Loving life

Well, Thomas is 2 weeks into the semester already (man time flies!) and I am 1 week into my internship (1/8 done). We are both enjoying it- me more so than him I think. But that is because when I get done with my 8 hour day, I can nap and go to Zumba every night. He gets done with his 8 hour day and has about 4 hours of homework to do. But he is doing well!

Thomas' headaches were because of his high blood pressure (which I've been saying since the beginning, but the doctor told use multiple times not to worry about it that it was definitely not the cause). Finally after 6 months they listened to us and put him on high blood pressure medication, and he is doing much better. We seem to have bad luck with doctors...

I love my internship- I'm working at a skilled nursing facility in American Fork. We also go to Timpanogos hospital when they call us, and do some home health visits. Its so much fun working with all the patients, and the PT/OT/ST (physical, occupational and speech therapy) team is so great! Everyone is on the same page and helping each other out, and we did group therapy with 17 clients yesterday, doing PT/OT/ST for 2 hours total. It was really fun, and the patients had a great time. I loved it. And I'm getting a ton of hours to count towards graduation, so that is great!

I take the praxis next week- one week from this very minute I will just be finishing. CRAZY! I definitely need to study. Which, is where I'm off to right now...
