Can you believe its May already?? I sure can't. Where did April go??? OH! To Thomas' finals, us moving, me ending one job and starting a new one... that's where.
That's right! We moved (around the corner, we are still in the same ward) to a 2 bedroom which is about twice the size of our old place which was only 1 bedroom. We LOVE LOVE LOVE the space, and the fact that it is a good deal cheaper! It is very big, and pretty nice for being older. It is in a 4-plex, so it feels quite homey compared to an apartment building. We have a yard, and a pretty cherry blossom tree in front! PLUS our really good friends Jill and Chris got a unit in there too, so they will be our neighbors!! We're excited. They move in next week.
Thomas survived finals, although we do not know his grades yet. I am sure he did amazingly well- he always does. He is such a hard worker, it always pays off.
I finished my internship, so all I have left to finish is my thesis for my degree. I got a job in the Fall with Nebo School District, and they also hired me on to work the rest of this school year, so I've been doing that for a few weeks and love it! It is SO nice to get a REAL paycheck for all my hard work, instead of the free labor I've been doing for the past year at my internships. Same work (which I love), but with pay- co+uld life be any better?? Well, it will be when I have full benefits in the Fall when I switch to full time. But it is so fun. This week is teacher appreciation week, and one of my kids brought me a flower and an apple. I love it, the kids are so cute. Today I learned from one kindergartner that when she went to California last year, she had to leave America because it was SO FAR AWAY! haha and then another kindergartner did a project on "going to Chinese." We asked him if he meant China, and he said "No, it was the country Chinese." So there you have it. California is no longer in the US and Chinese is no longer a language- it is a country.
Well it is almost quittin time... we have to stay until 3:15 because that is our contract time. That is one GREAT thing about being a "speech teacher" as opposed to a regular teacher.. We get a lot of our work done during our little breaks during the day, and hang out til our contract time is up- then go home. No lesson plans after hours, and all that stuff that teachers have to do that doesn't get included in their contract time. We can actually leave our work at work! Plus we get paid more :) Not a ton, but I'll take it. I LOVE being a speech teacher! Best degree ever. Or, it will be when my thesis is done... haha
