Since Valentines Day was on a Sunday, we went out to lunch on Saturday to El Salvador for some delicious pupusas (thick pita-like pockets filled with beans, cheese, pork, etc. and served with pickled cabbage and tomato juice sauce) and plantanos fritos (fried plantains). See pictures below:

SO stinkin delicious, topped off with sevada (for me- I love sweet!) and horchata for Thomas. I could not find a picture of sevada, but it is the color of pepto (but thinner) and it is a strawberry drink made with milk.
Horchata- a rice and milk drink. Yummy!
Basically we love this food. It is very different from Mexican, even their food by the same name is made differently. El Salvador is supposed to have some of most distinctive types of Central American food. It is also very cheap. And soon will be cheaper when I learn how to make it!!!
So on Valentines day, we had Chris and Jill over for dinner (calzones and salad) and had Triple Peanut Butter Pizza Pie for dessert (very aptly named Death by Chris after he took his first bite and felt his arteries clogging). Here is a picture:
Death
I will be posting the recipe on my
recipe blog right after this if you want to try it :) I'm going to add the "Death" version, as well as maybe some changes I'd try next time to make it not so killer rich.
We played Monopoly Deal (SO fun and SO much better than regular Monopoly.) Chris won both times, so we called it a night!
Love on our 3rd Valentines day together!
