MLKJDin' it up!

So this weekend has been a fun one- all in honor of MLKJD (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day). originally it was going to be a weekend full of homework and thesis, but... we decided it would be much better to build and strengthen relationships with each other and our friends! Besides, that's what we learned about in church this weekend too- life is all about relationships and how we treat other people.

Sunday night we had a traditional games/dessert night with Jill & Chris Sullivan and Mitch and Michelli (both soon to be Austin). We played Taboo- girls won, and then Apples to Apples where Michelli won- only because Mitch had the word "flirtatious" for his round and Michelli got a create a card and made it "Michelli" so he obviously had to pick her as the most flirtatious thing out of his choices. Unfortunately, mine was a close second and would've been winner if Michelli hadn't played so dirty- everyone agreed that Charging Rhinos are VERY flirtatious :) We also ate chocolate chip cookies, no-bakes and apples with Brazilian chocolate/carmel dipping sauce. Fun night!

Chris and Jill stayed until midnight and the boys played Modern Warfare 2 and Jill and I busted out the old TV and N64 and played Mario Kart and a whole lotta Golden Eye 007! Let me tell you- it would've been even if Jill hadn't been so suicidal during Proximity Mines. We had some good times and are about to repeat them tonight. I LOVE old school video games! Probably because I'm much better at them than new ones.

For MLKJD I had a girls lunch, and Jill, Emma and Shelena came over for Pumpkin Black Soup and Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread (see my recipe blog for the recipes). We played some games including Yahtzee (one round we ALL got a Yahtzee and Shelena got 2- that was crazy) and then we played some Mad Gab. I definitely had to read this outloud: Putty Stale Beet Weenies Legs. Can you figure out what it is??? Whoever can get it right first gets a gold star!

I finished off my MLKJD afternoon with some ZUMBA and homemade chicken crepes (also on my recipe blog) and I am SO happy right about now! SO happy in fact that I am going to post a picture from MLKJD about 5 years ago for your viewing enjoyment:

This dressing up and taking a silly picture tradition will definitely be implemented into our family when we have kids... :)

I love Mad Gab, but I don't play it with Jonathan because he always ends up Put(ting) His Tale Between His Legs :)

Just kidding.. He's good at it too.
