New Year, New Resolutions!

Thomas thinks that making resolutions is silly, but I am a huge fan. I had mine posted in the bathroom all last year to help me remember them- and I will do the same this year. I would say that I was pretty successful- especially for being in the first year of grad school and first year of marriage, life was insane. So here are 2009's resolutions:

1. Read scriptures 10 min/day (10 mins didn't always happen, but daily did! Haven't missed a day since Jan 1st 2007!)
2. Write in journal daily (check! Also haven't missed a day since Jan 1st 2007)
3. Exercise at least 5 days/week (mostly check! Unless I was sick or had to work 14 hours)
4. Do something fun everyday (check! This was hard in grad school, but 5 minutes counted)
5. Eat healthier (check! At least if you're comparing to the previous years)
6. Read Ensign and ASHA on Sundays (mostly check! Hard with teaching R.S. and having 2pm church... prepare lesson all morning, church all afternoon, dinner/friends all evening)
7. Get homework done before the due date (CHECK! 100% and I am SO proud!)
8. Find a way to serve someone each day (if Thomas counts for every day, then check)

Now its time to resolve to improve even more with 2010's Resolutions:

1. Read scriptures 10 min/day (try #2)
2. Continue to write in journal daily (Easy peasy!)
3. Exercise 6 days a week (ZUMBA! + toning)
4. Eat even healthier to lose 15 more pounds
5. Read Ensign and ASHA on Sundays (try #2)
6. Find a way to serve someone (not related to me) each week
7. Work on thesis at least 10 hours/week
8. Attend the temple at least once a month (used to be great at weekly attendance, but it is much more difficult working full time. Will have to work up to weekly again...)

I think that'll give me enough to work on :) At least the ones that made the list a second time are already KIND OF a habit. That always helps! 2009 was a great year and I feel that it was a year of much growth and experience. It was also probably the hardest year of my life, which makes sense that it was so rewarding. I am looking forward to a little bit of an easier year this year, but hopefully lots of growth still! Here are a few things 2010 has in store for the Webers:

April: Thomas finishes year 2 of law school!

Summer: New law internship for Thomas- maybe in Arizona? mmm warm...
and *hopefully* a trip to the Bahamas for a "second honeymoon"
August: Graduation & MASTERS DEGREE for Nicole, which means a REAL, full-time job with benefits... what does that even look like??

October: Thomas' 25th birthday- wow, quarter century club :)

November: Two years of marriage- wow it goes by fast

So we have a lot to look forward to. To wrap everything up, I'd like to end by sharing the quote that sits right below my resolutions to help with my motivation:

"I don't know how to get anything done, except by getting on my knees and pleading for help and then getting on my feet and going to work."
-Gordon B. Hinckley

I love that quote by GBH. Congrats on a fantastic year of accomplishments in 2009! I am sure that next year you will be looking back at 2010 with the same sense of pride in your success with your resolutions.
